Conference venues

The conference will be hosted at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) at the University of Sussex in Falmer. The reception will be held at the Royal Pavilion in the City Centre, and the conference dinner at the i360 on Brighton's seafront.

The Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, University of Sussex

The ACCA is easily accessible either by rail or bus from Brighton city centre, and contains an auditorium, as well as social space and space for posters. The main conference program will be located at the ACCA, including all talk and poster sessions. The only exception is Alexandra Loske's keynote talk which will be held at the Royal Pavilion before the conference's opening reception. 

The Royal Pavilion

Our first Keynote, delivered by Alexandra Loske, and the Welcome Reception on Friday the 14th will take place in Brighton’s magnificent Royal Pavilion. Built in 1787 as a seaside retreat for Prince George, later King George IV, the Pavilion is one of the city’s most distinctive landmarks. Its flamboyant architecture has become a symbol of Brighton itself, capturing the city’s glamorous, eccentric and colourful character, and the city council uses it as its logo. After the Friday afternoon talk sessions at ACCA, a coach will take us together from the University of Sussex campus to the Royal Pavilion.

The i360

The Conference Dinner will take place on Monday the 17th at Brighton’s iconic i360, where we have a reception 138 metres above the ground, and dine in the i360's conference facility next to the beach. Located directly on the seafront beside the remains of the West Pier, the i360 is a 162-metre-high moving observation tower offering spectacular panoramic views across the sea and the city. The Verriest Lecture will finish at 17:00, giving you two hours to make your own way from the campus to the i360 before the event begins at 19.00. This should also leave enough time to stop by your accommodation beforehand, should you wish to do so.
