Travelling between ACCA and central Brighton
The Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) is on the University of Sussex campus at Falmer, on the edge of the South Downs just outside Brighton. It is roughly 20–30 minutes from the city centre by bus, or under 10 minutes by train. The simplest options are below.
By bus
All these routes are run by Brighton & Hove Buses and stop close to the campus. To keep things simple we suggest just four: 25, 3X, 28 and 29.
Where to catch buses (towards ACCA)
Following the Valley Gardens changes in October 2025, buses towards the University of Sussex now leave from the Royal Pavilion stop, not the former Old Steine stop. To travel to ACCA, board at:
Royal Pavilion (stop R1) — routes 25, 25X, N25, 28 and 29, towards the University of Sussex, Lewes and beyond
Churchill Square (stop C2) — routes 25, 28 and 29; an alternative a little further west, with shelter and seating
Brighton Station and Hove Station — route 3X
Alight at the University of Sussex campus stop, or at Falmer Station — both are a few minutes' walk from ACCA. Lettered stops can vary by direction, so it is worth checking the exact stop on the journey planner or on the flag at the stop.
Buses back to central Brighton
Heading back into town, look for buses signed towards Brighton or the city centre, and board at:
University of Sussex campus stop (Bramber House — or the temporary East Slope Road stop during the roadworks) — routes 25, 25X and N25
Falmer Station, a few minutes' walk from ACCA — routes 28 and 29 towards Brighton, and the 3X towards Brighton and Hove stations
These set you down centrally at Old Steine or Churchill Square (routes 25, 28 and 29), or at Brighton and Hove stations(route 3X) — all close to the seafront, the Lanes and the Royal Pavilion.
Please note — campus roadworks during the conference
Brighton & Hove Buses lists roadworks on Refectory Road at the University of Sussex from 20 July to 11 September 2026, which covers the conference dates. During this time the Bramber House stop on campus is not served and buses divert via a temporary stop on East Slope Road. Please allow a little extra time and check for updates before you travel.
Tickets and the app
The easiest ways to pay are to buy a mobile ticket in the app, or simply tap a contactless card or phone when you board — a daily price cap means you will never pay more than a day ticket. You can also buy from the driver using card or cash.

By train
Falmer station is right beside the campus and is linked to it by a subway under the A27 — a short walk to ACCA. Trains are run by Southern.
Direct trains from Brighton take about 8 minutes (fastest 6), with a frequent service through the day — first train around 05:22, last around 23:41.
Direct trains also run from Lewes, and along the Seaford, Eastbourne and Hastings line.

By taxi
A taxi from central Brighton to ACCA takes roughly 15–20 minutes depending on traffic. Local firms are metered and fully licensed by the council; you can book by phone or app, or use a rank.

Taxi ranks are at Brighton Station, Hove Station, East Street (the Lanes) and the Level. Private hire cars must be booked in advance and cannot be flagged down in the street.
